Camden Coffee House

Jacket potato with coronation chicken, cheese, butter with side dish of salad.

Give me a comfy chair, tea, food and my sketchbook I'm a happy girl. Coffee camden house has nice relax chilled environment about it, passed the test of seating, as for me I always need comfy chair and enough leg room, very important for me otherwise I cannot be comfortable (it's not me trying to be snobby or anything it's just with my chronic pains makes it difficult to sit for prolonged times without the adequate support). I enjoyed my meal, just the right amount of food, sipped on my peppermint tea and then done quick sketch, so excuse if the drawing is a bit crappy. Before leaving I did have cheeky mocha to give me extra boost for my journey home, which I won't lie got my mocha approval. Overall thumbs up from me.

My First Holiday In Very Long Time, Eastbourne I Love You

Long overdue break, so we went to Eastbourne for the weekend (couple weeks ago), lovely little holiday. Been long time since I've had holiday, with my health playing huge factor, so to me it was special, so I imagine when I get the chance to go abroad I think I be emotional wreck with tears of joy, as like I always said if this illness taught me anything, it's about appreciating everything, don't take things for granted as cliche as that might sound, it's true. So while on holiday I ate and ate, enjoyed what Eastbourne seaside had to offer, it was sad that the pier was closed off, of course due to the fire that happened there not long ago. However you could of just left me on the beach I would of been happy, soaking up my surroundings. Just sad couldn't adventure more, but the holiday was good nonetheless. Will be doing separate post on the museum we visited there etc. Hope you like the holiday snapshots. From here I let the pictures do the talking.

The last pic was taken when we was going home, sad face, always the drama queen that I am.

Are you someone who likes the seaside? Or are you lucky enough to live on the coast let me know.

A Mississippi Biker's Pecan Pudding

We interrupt your scheduled blogging to bring you this special announcement: Loopysos' blog has been hijacked by Lucy's boyfriend to show you the product of perseverance and a promise.

I made the decision to cheer Loopy up with something very close to her heart; pudding. After seeing the Hairy Bikers Mississippi Adventure I decided the best place to start was with one of my personal favourite desserts, the humble bread and butter pudding. After looking at the recipe (the only change I made was to use brioche instead of a baguette) the twist the Hairy Bikers put on a traditional dessert seemed delicious and simple to make.

After preparation it kind of looks like it's made with Fairy Liquid but trust me it smells delicious.
Word of warning: beating the eggs in a bowl with the sugar is a lot harder and tiring without the use of an electric whisk... I found that out first hand.

Once cooked the first slice releases the wonderful scent of caramel and bourbon.
I'd never in my life made butterscotch sauce before so this was truly a trip into the unknown, between the fear of wrecking a saucepan and possible third degree burns the perseverance paid off, the mixture of pecan bread pudding and the butterscotch sauce really works and I'd recommend the recipe to anyone wanting to try something relatively simple where the results speak for themselves.

Obligatory Loopy Hello Kitty tray with pecan pudding
And it's with this that I will love you and leave you, hope you enjoyed my first hijacking attempt, hope to speak to you soon.

Ritzy Brixton Bar

Kids Meal

Vegetarian Burger

If you read my blog thinking another food post back to back, truth be told when I do have chance to go out for a meal I like to document it as my picture diary. My dear friends bless them (lovely bunch), took me out, treated me for a meal. So my friends kept telling me about this place, I know of the cinema been there several times but I've never eaten at the cafe there. They sold me on the home made houmous like I LOVE houmous so I was like yes take me there. That first mouthful of it, I knew straight away me and the houmous was meant to be. The food was delicious. I loved the kids menu (nice selection) and the fact served with salad I don't know just thought good little thing. Cool place to go for a meal, or just a hot drink or beverage.

My apologies that it's another Brixton place, well last post was Clapham. However I am South Londoner girl so it's to be expected me posting about South London places. But don't worry won't be all focused same area in future posts.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen

My meal

Excuse the crumbs in each pic, that's from the peanuts we ate. Tables are clean.

Couple weeks ago had nice treat, it was little celebration after bit of good news. For ages I've wanted to visit this place, but something either come up or it's my health same old same old. So finally by surprise my friend took me on sunny day, the weather was great and Clapham is an area I love. Now onto the food, I ordered Camemburger and Sweet Potato Fries with bacon aioli, drink- Ginger & Lemongrass fizz (free refills yay pour me another). The meal itself filled with flavour, nothing burnt/over cooked or under cooked, the burger was juicy succulent and just oozed in my mouth ever so effortlessly. I am burger girl and for me I was in burger heaven. My fries delicious the bacon aioli made me want to know the recipe as I want to try it at home. Drink was fresh refreshing and tasty. Comfortable seating which is great for me, bonus. Service is good and will defiantly be going back. The only thing I will say is wish their banner was brighter and bigger, as can easily go pass it by accident, as I am visual person things like that can make difference, that's my personal view. So if you need me you know feel free to contact me.

ps - changed the blog, fancied a change. Still some tweaks need to be done, but will do it in due time.

Honest Burgers (Brixton)

Me and my usual moody face lol.

Happy now- feed me.

After seeing reviews and hearing the buzz about this place, me being a lover of burgers had to check out what all the fuss was about. When we got there it was 20 minute wait, so killed time walked around Brixton market and Brixton Village seeing all the new places to eat as it's changed quite fair amount since last time been in the area. Once table was available we received a text message to say table is ready for us, which I thought was good, so know what's happening, officiant. So now it's time for drinks and FOOD.

Ordered  beef, red onion and lettuce with leicester cheese burger with their house chips (chips comes with the meal). Must I say chips has nice little crunch to it, taste reminds me of crisps like the seasoning of it, so didn't need my usual overload of ketchup to dip my chips in. Now onto the burger as sit here typing this I am now wanting this meal, thoroughly enjoyed the burger, cooked just right, melts in your mouth. Overall the service was good, nice meal out however at the end that killed the evening we got the bill before we even requested it, which threw us off, kind of ruined it, if they just waited only few minutes later we was going to ask for the bill anyway, that wasn't cool.

Pre warn you as it does get so busy there (in evenings) expect a waiting time, be fully prepared to wait at their peak times.

However I'm glad I went.

Steve's Leaves Salad

Sorry about the fuzziness, bad blogger..

Recently I got a chance to review some salad leaves, as someone who normally buys the plain salad-in-a-bag this seemed like a decent opportunity to compare and contrast as these weren’t your usual nondescript washed rocket these were Steve's Leaves; a UK domestically produced and freshly farmed salad (amongst other products). The bags that arrived were Fennel Tops & Sweet Leaves, the bags were brightly and clearly labelled and are described as “a totally herbaceous mix of fennel tops and some of our favourite sweet leaves, namely: baby spinach, baby green batavia and baby chard.”
The meal with which I had the salad was a pan fried steak and blue cheese, it went surprisingly well together especially with the mint honey dressing. The baby spinach, chard and green batavia had a lovely crunch and sweet taste, the fennel tops had a very slight bitter taste that was a perfect mix for the spinach and made the meal delicious. After this it does seem quite hard to go back to regular store bought salad bags now.

PS- Have to give credit to Mark (my boyfriend) who wrote this review on my behalf.

Caribbean Food From Tooting Market

Everyone always talk about the big markets in London, however plenty of small markets that can be gems whether its food clothes there is market for it. What's great about Tooting Market is having variety of cultures under one roof from Portuguese to Caribbean which I be discussing in this blog post.

I love me some Caribbean food I am bias as that's part of my background. Walking through the market and my greedy eyes was like yes I need me some nibbles from this place, unfortunely didn't write down the name of the Caribbean take out as I was just focused on the food, and having banter with the worker, however it's easy to find once you step into Tooting Market, so lets just pretend for sec I'm not bad blogger. The service was great, attentive which for me is bonus of course not to the point where its over the top or invasive. The food, right again bad blogger slap on the hand, I scoffed down my food without taking pics sorry. However still can tell you how it tasted, our order dumplings, carrot&ginger juice- oh that had kick to it, when that ginger hit you oh my, chicken pattie- the patties wasn't crumbly as sometimes the pastry falls apart when you buy patties from Caribbean bakeries/restaurants/takeaways , chocolate & coconut cake with rum in it- only had bite of that as I'm not big fan of coconut, but still could appreciate the taste, salmon & banana plantain- simply delicious, you would assume that combo doesn't work but seriously fits well, worth having a try and going just for that, just typing about it is making me want it, mmm (daydream). . I felt satisfied with my food and would definitely go back.

Finally grew some balls not literally of course posted whole profile of myself (pic above) so I'm no model but who cares, not going to photoshop myself to look perfect nah bullocks to that. Putting that aside, are you someone that visits you're local markets or other little markets? let me know.

Cookies With A Healthy Twist

It's been awhile since I've blogged due to health reasons, but I won't get into it in this blog post. Some time ago I baked, not baked in forever and whilst having access to Mum's kitchen that has everything, it gave me great chance to try out recipe I found through a blog who had the link of the full recipe.

Ingredients: Self Raising Flour (wholemeal)
                  Table Salt
                  Ground Cinnamon
                  Lemon Juice
                  Maple Syrup
                  Vanilla
                  Bicarbonate Soda
                  Baking Powder
                  Raisins (seedless)
                  Instant Oats
                  Mango

I altered the recipe slightly instead of using banana, I put in Mango instead. Turned out pretty good, and most importantly my mother loved it, as my Mum is good at cooking&baking, so was happy when I got the thumbs up from the family. Needless to say the cookies didn't last long, I've already been told I must bake again soon, oh dear, what have I have started......

PS- Here is the blog, that gave me the idea. And the link to the original recipe.
Next time I may have banana instead, see how that is.

Just what the doctor ordered, well not really, but needless to say this came at the right time. And I am certainly happy to review these goodies. Love the concept greeting card with food, just an overall feel good feeling. Really needed this if you didn't read my last post click here, so when I received parcel from Sugarpoke it was nice little pick me up.

The card was lovely touch, and sweet message was inside, which made me smile. Thoroughly enjoyed the snacks, I only have one left, so yes it's not lasted long oops, thank you for sending me these tasty goodies. It's affordable, great gifts for many different occasions, specially someone like me, my birthday is on the 20th July, not long, so if you want, you know put a smile on an old fart like me haha. PS- I've not been sponsored for this post. Yes this was sent to me for a review, but it's all 100% my view, honesty is the best policy.

Chicken Bun Love

Back at home- dinner time

Went China Town with the girly's Daisy and Jo while back, this was one of the area's we visited on our day out together. I must say I always love going there, each time has been fond memory. Not only is there good food but also you have cute Asian shops that sells beauty items etc, little supermarkets, indoor market.

My eyes, perhaps my belly saw the food stand, lined up and bought me Chicken Bun, which I teamed up with my rice that was from my doggy bag (big lunch with the girls- separate blog post) which I had for my dinner when I got home, it was delicious, yummy in my tummy.

Fancy being my dinner date?!

Safa Indian Restaurant

Couple a weeks ago celebrated my sister's birthday, as you may of gathered I love food. Luckily this was before my flare ups and my night in A&E, however back to the dining post. The family and I decided to go to Indian Restaurant to celebrate her birthday, which was fab. I am not one for spicy spicy food, the taste, and also doesn't exactly agree with me if you get my drift. I was delighted with my Korma (I know how very British of me), rice, Bombay potatoes, and my favourite peshwari naan. The food was tasteful, wasn't greasy, they was attentive to your needs. My one gripe is the portions are on the small side, wish they was bigger, I notice when eating out it's either to little or to big of a portion (not always of course).

Drinks, also can see part of my Dad looking at the menu.

My cocktail Cosmopolitan

Chicken Korma, peshwari naan, rice, and Bombay potatoes.

Other dishes my family ordered.

Step mum tucking in her dessert

My dessert Fruit Parfait

Entrance/front of the restaurant

Place an order.

Dodgy angle I know, however it was hard to capture it all without
standing in the road, also was rushing - time to go home.
However I very much recommend this restaurant, so if you ever in South East London, check it out. I sure will be repeat customer.
